My September highlights photo drop! ☺️ (It’s My September highlights photo drop! ☺️ (It’s fun to be limited to ten.) 

Do you know what makes me cringe? When I see somebody (especially a coach or a psychologist) exclaim on social media—“I can’t believe the month is gone already! Where did the time go!” 

It’s only cringy for me when it’s embedded with the energy of hustle-culture worship. 😵‍💫 As if it’s some kind of badge of honor to lose all track of time. 

This has been studied—the sense that time moves too fast—and at the heart of it is a person’s boredom and discontent. Not “hustle.” If we’re doing the same old same old everyday, without adding anything new to our routine, then the brain registers it as one single uninteresting day. “Fast-forward this month,” the brain says, “because nothing surprised me.” 

The small exercise of remembering where the time has gone, at the end of each month, slows time. It has been a devotion of mine for years, and I encourage you to try it. ☺️

Use whatever senses are available to you. 🙏 If you don’t have the use of all of your senses—that’s okay! 

Focus on what you are seeing. Really take it in. What is most soothing to your eyes? (It’s the colors, for me. And the lines of waves in the sand.) 

What are you smelling? (I can still smell the cool earthy scent of the early morning desert dunes.) 

How does the ground below your feet feel? How does the sand gently streaming between your fingers feel? Use whatever your environment contains, and feel that. 

What are you hearing? Birds? Breeze? Take it all in. 

Is there a taste? Do you taste something in the air? Take a drink of water or a bite of your energy bar. Savor it. 

How about your sixth sense—your intuition? Are you hearing any messages from your highest consciousness? Nature herself? That tiny chatty cactus? 🏜️

I call this a Sensory Scan. And it’s one of the most powerful & easily accessible tools for balancing and regulating energy. Do it when you need it, if your emotions are too high, or if your energy is too low. Or do it every day to self-regulate.

Instantaneous transformation... I’ve studied ( Instantaneous transformation... 

I’ve studied (and lived) the relationship between transformation, our intuition, mental health, and Mother Nature my entire life, but formally for the past two decades. One of the greatest fascinations of mine is around the research of “Awe”. 

My particular passion is specifically how our experience of feeling awed by nature positively affects our life. 🌟 

The research is pretty clear: Awe triggers transformative experiences that are oftentimes permanent. 

Meaning= our lives can be instantaneously altered by being in the right moment with nature, at the right time (even if we haven’t “scheduled” a transformative experience— ☺️.) 🌟 

But what many mistakenly believe is that feeling awed by nature requires free soloing El Capitan, rafting through class five rapids, or jumping out of an airplane. In fact, it’s been proven that the opposite is true. 

The spiritual & psychological growth that happens with awe generally happens in the quiet, gentle moments, when Adrenalin is not activated. It doesn’t require ultra-athleticism. It just requires us to stop, slow down, and find the right moment to disappear into.

To say it changed my life would be a gross understatement. It was like having a bomb dropped on my entire existence. But when the dust settled, and I made my way through the glorious rubble, I found that what remained was all that ever mattered: Love, freedom, expression, soul, heart, universal connection and earthly interconnection. I was granted a new start with a gloriously blank canvas that my spirit was free to fill. 

It’s natural to feel terrified of your divine callings. They’re disruptive, yes. They obliterate your comfort zone. But so what if they come at an “inconvenient” time—they’re all that truly matter. They’re why you came to this planet at this time. They are the True You. You can’t repress, or deny, or run from your own heart.
